Fit the Source to Your Course: Defining Appropriate Research for Your Course Online
We all want students to use credible sources in their research assignments. But while peer-reviewed sources are frequently touted as the most reliable - and are required for research assignments at all levels - they are not the only source of credible information, and may be inaccessible to students in introductory courses. The three VSCS Libraries Humanities Liaisons (Charlotte Gerstein, Lindsey Roberts and Katie Beth Ryan) will devote this hour to discussing different types of sources and their appropriateness for different courses and assignments. We will brainstorm ways of introducing students to traditional peer-reviewed research, and demonstrate different ways of finding credible sources, both within and beyond the libraries.
